Orange County

Plenty of sunshine, pristine suburban neighborhoods, and those famous beaches…this county is the epitome of California dreamin’.

Drive from Los Angeles to Orange County and you’ll never know when you’ve changed counties. There’s no obvious break in landscape, architecture, or atmosphere. Most people assume that some of the OC’s favorite destinations, such as Long Beach and Anaheim, are in fact part of its northern neighbor. But fear not; locals are proud of their identity and will quickly correct any confusion on your part. Buena Park, Huntington Beach, Laguna Nigel, Santa Ana, and others each offer their own distinct (if not immediately obvious) personality, and what to do in Orange County depends on which city you’re in.

Hang ten (or get a few lessons) at Bolsa Chica State Beach in the west coast’s “Surf City” of Huntington Beach. Pack a picnic basket and a blanket and stretch your legs in more parks per square mile in the county while exploring Laguna Nigel. Speaking of stretching your legs, follow in the footsteps of Seth Cohen & co. in the city where The O.C. was set: Newport Beach. Although we hope your time here is less dramatic and more relaxing.

Looking for fun things to do in Orange County for a date? What’s better than a candlelit dinner right on the water, with Johnny Depp and Kiera Knightly just around the bend? Surprise your sweetheart with reservations at the Blue Bayou restaurant in Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Anaheim for some epic brownie points.
