Meet the Editors

Monica Pedraja
Photo Editor

Monica was inspired to travel by the women who raised her. She spent much of her younger years traveling with her mom and grandma. From Hong Kong to London, Monica developed her keen eye for the unique details (and food) that made a city its own. Her need to document led to study photography and photojournalism, and continue to tell stories of the world visually. When she’s not looking at photos, she spends her time in the kitchen knocking out recipes from cookbooks against the soundtrack of either João Gilberto or Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

Jason Heidemann
Co-Editor

An industry pro with more than 20 years of experience, Jason is a Los Angeles-based travel writer and cultural reporter who can still recall his eighth-grade self hoisting up an enormous marlin he caught while fishing off the California Coast during a family road trip up epic Pacific Coast Highway. Since that time he has visited six continents and shared his journeys via numerous co-authored guidebooks and hundreds of travel stories and essays. Future dream vacations include an Eastern European rail journey, Southeast Asia and lots more Mexico!

Martina Sheehan
Co-Editor

With bylines in the New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler, Forbes Travel Guides and Time Out Chicago, among others, Martina lives, breathes, and writes travel. While she’s visited more than 40 countries and loved them all, her happy place is anywhere with a good view, warm breeze and robust street-food scene (fresh midnight churros are the best). When she and the fam aren’t holding up security lines with contraband fruit pouches, you’ll most likely find them exploring their hometown of Chicago, taking too many photos in the streets of Havana, or castle-hopping somewhere in Europe.
